This Is Why You Need a Next-Gen GTA

This Is Why You Need a Next-Gen GTA

It might be time to trade-in your current girlfriend ( IE : the last-gen version GTA V ) for her younger, hotter sister!

Whether you’ve been into gaming for 20 years or 2, hang around long enough and you’ll learn one valuable lesson: game developers always attempt to squeeze a few extra dollars out of their franchises via re-releases, box sets and special editions. If a game is a success, you can bet another revamped version is destined to hit store shelves at some point (featuring better graphics this and exclusive bonus content that). While Rockstar is no exception to the rule (releasing many upgrades to GTA titles in the past), at least they’re attempting to make significant strides in bringing GTA V to the next-gen.

This iteration of Grand Theft Auto V was announced by Rockstar earlier this year, and has been on a slow path towards a much anticipated release ever since. I don’t need to recap just how huge its first outings on the PS3 and 360’s were, as you can check the Guinness Book for World Records for that. And as its release date drew closer, an all important question began circulating amongst the gaming community. Blogs, forums and podcast alike all speculated whether or not dropping another $60 bucks on a polished version of a game which is already a year old was really worth it. Not an unreasonable question, but one I think I may hold the answer to.

So here are just a few good reasons why new comers and veterans alike are going to want a next-gen edition of Grand Theft Auto V !

First of All, Rockstar Has Committed to Outright Bribery as a Viable Sales Tactic!

CheatCC was recently provided with a press release, listing all the perks the studio will be offering to those gamers who’ve already put in serious man hours with the title. They include exclusive events, rewards, weapons, vehicles and more. They even have a new murder mystery sub-plot that will let Michael go all Arkham City on us, tracking down clues and apprehending a killer (and by apprehend I mean run over). So even if you’ve already completed nearly 100% of the things GTA V has to offer, this new swag should be enough to at least wet your appetite for a bit longer.

OK, Let’s Address the Beautifully Rendered Elephant in the Room.

While sighting improved graphics as a reason to re-purchase a video game is extremely superficial in most cases, I’m not sure that argument really applies here. I mean, it’s not as if were talking about a simple face-lift. Jumping from one platform to another goes WAY beyond just polishing up a few texture maps. The leap from the last-gen to the next-gen is clearly evident; with all new foliage, weather and traffic systems. Los Santos’ design and expansive layout has always been impressive in its own right, but it’s apparent the PS4 and Xbox One are taking things to a whole new level. This is without a doubt the definitive GTA experience for today’s gamer. Hands-down.

See it Again…For the First Time!

Naturally there are some GTA ers out there who knew right from the start they’d be picking up their next-gen copy as soon as it hit store shelves. In that regard, I’m sort of preachin’ to the choir. Although, there is something to be said for the crowd who’s yet to indulge in the latest chapter in the franchise. To those who’ve only watched from afar I say: LUCKY YOU! That means you’re not only about to experience a game unlike anything you’ve played in recent years, you’re going to see it through the eyes of the most powerful hardware on the market! I envy you, as many of us we’ll never be able to play GTA V for the first time again. If you’ve been waiting for a good reason to take the plunge, now is that time. Take it. You won’t regret a thing.

Grand Theft Auto V 2.0 will be available in just over two weeks on November 18 th . While we already gave the original a rave review , I think it bears repeating. GTA V was a huge step not just for the Auto series itself, but for sandbox gaming in general. Then came the inclusion of the online component (which is still going strong today), that only further cemented Rockstar’s place as a true trail-blazer of our industry. In the end, yes it’s just a simple re-release. However, this re-release might almost be a good enough reason for some to go out and buy a next-gen console (if they haven’t already).

As the 2014 holiday season rolls around, I can think of no better stocking stuffer than this little beauty. Guaranteed to make that special someone’s face light up with thoughts of dancing sugar plums and punching hookers in the face.
