What Is the PlayStation Experience?

What Is the PlayStation Experience?

For a while now, Sony has been hyping up their brand new PlayStation Experience, an event that is happening on December 6 th and 7 th in sunny Las Vegas. Sony has already allowed fans to start purchasing tickets, but so far hasn’t really revealed many details about the event. They did say that it would be like nothing else PlayStation fans have experienced before, and gave us some small details. Essentially, it was going to be sort of like a “fan’s E3” where PlayStation fans can try out new and upcoming games, attend panels, and even watch keynotes. But as far as games and developers were concerned, Sony was keeping just who would be attending the PlayStation Experience under wraps… until today.

In a post on the official PlayStation blog, Sony revealed just a few of the studios that are confirmed for an appearance at the PlayStation experience, in addition to Sony’s own Santa Monica studio, San Diego studio, and Sony Online Entertainment, the following companies will be attending the event:

  • Activision
  • Aksys Games
  • Bandai Namco Games
  • Devolver Digital
  • Disney
  • Double Fine
  • EA
  • From Software
  • Guerilla Studios
  • Maximum Games
  • Media Molecule
  • Naughty Dogs
  • Ready at Dawn
  • Square-Enix
  • Sucker Punch
  • Telltale Games
  • Ubisoft
  • WB Games

Much of the game line-up is also still being kept under-wraps, but Sony has decided to share a preliminary list of games that will be playable on the shower floor. The list is as follows:

  • Bloodborne
  • DC Universe Online – War of the Light Part II and Legends PvE Co-Op Missions
  • Destiny Expansion 1: The Dark Below
  • Dragon Ball Xenoverse
  • Dying Light
  • Game of Thrones: A Telltale Game Series
  • Grim Fandango
  • Helldivers
  • Journey PS4 Edition
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • PlanetSide 2
  • Tales from the Borderlands
  • Tearaway Unfolded
  • The Order: 1886
  • The Tomorrow Children
  • The Witness
  • Until Dawn

Sony has also announced that their brand new Virtual Reality headset, Project Morpheus, will also be at the show. Sony did not confirm if the prototype will be hands-on or eyes on, nor did they confirm what demos the prototype will be shown at, but they do know that it will be there.

Sony also said that they have ”something super special” planned for No Man’s Sky . Whatever this super special thing is, it’s planned for Saturday Night at the event and will be open to all attendees.

If you don’t happen to have the ability to drop everything and go to Vegas, then you are still in luck. Sony will be streaming the event and will be providing regular updates via their Facebook pages. In the coming days, Sony will also provide us more information on what panels will be there, what exclusive loot attendees can pick up, what contests will be available, and what other community activities will be featured at the show.

If you are one of the lucky ones who can go to Vegas at the drop of a hat, or if you live in the Vegas area, you can pick up your tickets here.
