Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Is Here And You Should Be Afraid

Surprise! It’s Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 ! What was supposed to be just a demo release for the sequel to this year’s surprise horror hit, ended up being a random full release. You can now pick up the game on Steam proper, and start surviving yet another night at this murderous pizza restaurant. Here’s what the description of the game had to say about it.

“As the new security guard working nights, your job is to monitor cameras and make sure nothing goes wrong after-hours. The previous guard has complained about the characters trying to get into the office (he has since been moved to day-shift). So to make your job easier, you’ve been provided with your very own empty Freddy Fazbear head, which should fool the animatronic characters into leaving you alone if they should accidentally enter your office.”

The game has already taken the internet by storm. Several of the most well-known let’s players on YouTube are already uploading playthroughs complete with face-cams so we can see them jump out of their chairs. Strategy for each night in the game is already being discussed. Secrets are being found. More and more of the game’s dark and really screwed up narrative is being revealed.

The game has been met with mixed reception so far. There is a bit of skepticism due to the fact that this sequel has come out so soon after the original. It’s only been a few months since the initial release after all. But at the same time there are a lot of people jumping at the chance to purchase this brand new take on the tense horror of the first. It’s also worth noting that a lot of work has been put into this new version, the graphics alone appear much better, and the mechanics have been greatly expanded on.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Is Here And You Should Be Afraid

When the first game came out, I wrote an article about whether or not Five Nights at Freddy’s could be considered a horror game. Whether or not that is the case, I would like to say that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 certainly manages to be classified as horror in my book. There are far more than jump scares here, and while the mechanics of the game are a lot more direct and make you feel a lot less helpless in my opinion. The game manages to make you feel like something is very, very, very wrong, outside the fact that crazy robot animatronics want to kill you.

What about you? Will you be taking the plunge into the world of a night watchman at a kid’s pizzeria? Will you be going up against crazy animatronics that want to kill you? Let us know what you think of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 in the comments.
