Hideo Kojima Finds New Home at Square-Enix (April Fool’s)

Hideo Kojima Finds New Home at Square-Enix (April Fool’s)

After a prolonged falling out with Konami, well known game designer Hideo Kojima has found a brand new home. After wrapping up his work on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain , Kojima will go on to take a position as a game designer at Square-Enix. This is all part of Square’s new initiative to try and focus on the core gamer.

It’s too late for Kojima to have much say in any of Square’s current projects, as much as we may want him to have a hand in creating Final Fantasy XV . Luckily, Square-Enix president Yosuke Matsuda says that they have big plans in store for the future. We can look forward to hearing more about these plans at E3.

Kojima himself commented on his move, saying that he was “always a big fan of Square-Enix” because they “understood how to make deep and complex plots” just like him.

In other news, Konami has decided to move forward with the Silent Hills project without Kojima. Guillermo Del Toro has been put in charge of the project, and it will move ahead as planned. Del Toro has stated that he is looking for more people with experience in horror to join the project. While he says nothing is definite, possible candidates such as David Cronenberg and Stephen King have been reached out to.
