Nintendo Reveals New Details About the NX (April Fool’s)

Nintendo Reveals New Details About the NX (April Fool’s)

Nintendo has recently stepped forward, giving us yet more details about their upcoming console, the NX. Remember when they said that the NX will connect all of their previous consoles including the Wii U and 3DS? Well, now we know what they meant by that.

The NX is essentially halfway between a multi-console retro rig and a Steam box. It will allow you to connect up practically any video game controller via Bluetooth. Wii and Wii U controllers can be connected as is, as can 3DS and DS systems. However, previous systems will be connected via the use of a controller hub which will be controlled by batteries. This controller hub will allow you to connect retro controllers to the system, and use them on the products they were meant for. Nintendo will also start producing brand new retro controllers, including the NES, SNES, and N64 line, at a rate of 30 dollars apiece.

When connecting a portable system to the NX, you will be able to see what is happening on your TV. The NX disc slot will also be able to read Gamecube, Wii, and Wii U games. It will also be able to synch up with your Nintendo e-shop account, and play whatever retro games you like.

This is part of Nintendo’s move to upload their entire retro library as a digital distribution service. In addition to the NX library, Nintendo will also be bringing the e-Shop to PCs. This marks the first time that Nintendo games will be available to play on PCs.
