April Fool’s Day Pranks That Should Have Been Real

April Fool’s Day Pranks That Should Have Been Real

April Fool’s Day is here, which means everyone in the gaming industry (*cough cough* including us *cough cough*) is just making stuff up. We know it can be frustrating, but hey, it’s all just lighthearted fun. The best part about April Fool’s Day is seeing pranks that we kind of wish were real. Here are the best gaming April Fool’s day gags that frankly we would be OK with if they actually ended up releasing.

Ace Attorney With Dogs

If you don’t understand Japanese, you probably wouldn’t get this joke. The next Ace Attorney game, set in the Meiji era, is spelled 大逆転裁判 in Japanese, which roughly translated into “Great Gyakuten Saiban”. However, if you change the very first character slightly, from 大 to 犬, it becomes 犬逆転裁判 which translated into “Dog Gyakuten Saiban”. Capcom released a brand new trailer for the game, which turned all of your favorite Phoenix Wright characters into absolutely adorable dogs. It’s hard to find now because they have done their best to take it off the internet once April Fool’s Day was over, but suffice it to say, I was hyped to play Phoenix Wright doggy style… get your mind out of the gutter!

The PlayStation Flow

The PlayStation Flow was a pair of virtual reality goggles that would allow you to play your favorite underwater levels in virtual reality, as long as you had a pool. Now, I don’t particularly want to take on the role of Link in the water dungeon, but a pair of goggles that can allow you to play video games in the water sounds pretty cool to me. If anything, you could simply play your favorite games while in the bathtub, and that’s pretty cool. Maybe I just like swimming a lot, but I can’t wait for the age of waterproof gaming.

April Fool’s Day Pranks That Should Have Been Real

Romance Central

A Kinect game where you have to dance to win your lover’s heart. There was very little more than an image for this one but honestly, who doesn’t want to dance for love? It’s like every 70s and 80s movie I’ve ever seen! Unfortunately their free to play demo of the game doesn’t involve much dancing, but hey, we can wait.

Agri Birds

This new Angry Birds game for mobile devices allows you to do much more than just fling birds at structures. It has guns, RPG elements, and even a Five Nights at Freddy ’s section. Frankly, it’s a game that I wouldn’t mind playing one bit. I love games that do a little bit of everything.

Pac-Man on Google Maps

Finally we have my favorite prank of all, the Google Maps Pac-Man overlay. This turns any section of Google Maps into a fully working Pac-Man game. You can play around your house, around your work, in the middle of Times Square, and more! It’s an incredible time killer and the only way it could be better is if you could use it with Google Nav and let your car be Pac-Man … but that probably would cause some accidents.
