Attention, Attention: A New Deus Ex Is On The Way

Attention, Attention: A New Deus Ex Is On The Way

Square-Enix has just announced a brand new Deus Ex game. Entitled Deus Ex: Mankind Divided , this news comes after a very recent Square-Enix tease of a “new Western game.”

The game takes place two years after the events of Deus Ex: Human Revolution , in the far-off year of 2029. They do realize that’s like, just 14 years away, right? I’m going to be very disappointed if I don’t get my robot eyes when I’m 50.

The game will star Adam Jensen, the same protagonist of Human Revolution , as he joins an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists. The world has become terrified of transhumans, as it should be considering they get to put guns and rocket launchers in their arms. The new game will link to the first by building off the Illuminati’s move to make all transhumans go berserk and attack anyone who is closest to them. Essentially, Jensen is going to have much more powerful enemies this time around.

Of course, with more powerful enemies comes more powerful abilities. Jensen will have a whole host of new stealth, combat, and even social augmentations. The game is said to refine Human Revolution ’s systems, allowing you to tackle problems however you like.

Unfortunately, Human Revolution did have one problem, which was that you couldn’t avoid combat. You could attempt to stealth your way through the game as much as possible but eventually you became locked in a room with someone you absolutely had to kill, making it foolish to make anything but a combat build. When Human Revolution was being developed, it was advertised that you could play through the game without ever having to fire a shot. Hopefully Mankind Divided delivers more on that promise.

The biggest change to the enemies is that they are now much smarter. Enemies will work in groups, flanking you, trying to smoke you out, and even running to your objectives before you can. Instead of simply picking off enemies one by one, or perhaps talking and bribing them down, you have to contend with group behavior, which can seriously screw up your plans.

Unfortunately a lot of details about Mankind Divided are still unknown, but we do know that it will be coming to the PC, Xbox One, and PS4. No release date has been set yet, however, it’s likely that we will be seeing more of this game at conferences all this coming year, including E3. We will bring you more information about it when it becomes available. Until then, maybe think twice about getting your new robot arm.
