We Already Know Some of Microsoft’s E3 2015 Exclusives

Much fuss is being made over Microsoft’s Phil Spencer talking about Xbox One exclusives at E3 2015. The system is going to get new games that will only be available on that console. Woo hoo! Okay, that was a little sarcastic, but you can’t blame me. The point of getting a specific console is to take advantage of the games only it will have.

Said announcement has naturally led to much speculation. However, people don’t seem to realize there are already a number of Xbox One exclusives waiting in the wings. We know they exist. We’ve heard talk about them. Most importantly, when you think about what we know about them, then Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference would be the perfect place for some reveals.

Halo 5: Guardians is a perfect example. We know 343 Industries and Microsoft are going to have it ready for Xbox One owners on October 27, 2015. However, we still haven’t seen tons of footage or learned all of the delicious details about the game. Of course it’s going to show up at E3 2015 as one of the exclusives.

But then, there are also games we know exist thanks to previous E3 announcements, but haven’t seen much yet. We know that Microsoft Studios is working on Crackdown , Platinum Games is covering Scalebound , and Black Tusk Studios is working on an Xbox One Gears of War game. All three of these promise to be huge titles, with at least two being system sellers. (I hesitate to call too much attention to Scalebound , knowing that Platinum Games can occasionally be niche.) The first two were announced at E3 2014, and are in a prime position to appear with more details, perhaps even launch information, at E3 2015. Plus, the timing is perfect for a Gears of War reveal.

And then there’s Rare. We’ve seen a lot of teasing surrounding the developer as of late. Banjo Kazooie ‘s name has been coming up a lot, as have the titles Perfect Dark and Viva Piñata . Even Conker has made a comeback, in a way, with a Project Spark appearance. What better time to get people excited about a new Rare project than E3 2015? It sure would explain many of the internet rumblings.

I suppose I’m saying excitement is absolutely warranted over the Microsoft E3 2015 exclusive IPs. It’s always great to hear about new games that will make our favorite console great. Just don’t drive yourself crazy trying to figure out what we’re going to see. As evidenced above, we already have a pretty good idea of what we can expect. Microsoft hasn’t really been keeping us in the dark, and the four games we are 100% aware of are enough to show the potential of this year’s lineup.
