M. Bison Revealed For Street Fighter V

M. Bison Revealed For Street Fighter V

A new Street Fighter V character trailer has been released, showing off M. Bison. The psycho powered dictator has quite a few new tricks this time around.

Aside from his standard scissor kick, head stomp, teleport, and slide, which have been Bison staples for years now, he also has a new projectile reflect, a short range command grab (or hit grab), a telekinetic throw, a DP style ground spire, and a short range juggling burst. The properties of many of his classic moves have also changed, with his head stomp now OTGing the opponent multiple times, his scissor kick EX version including several extra kicks and allowing him to juggle, his teleport speeding up and being able to be used at close range as an evasive maneuver, and his slide leading him into what appears to be multiple hit chains.

Oddly enough, one move that he didn’t use was his Psycho Crusher, which only shows up in his “revenge” art. The Psycho Crusher, while being Bison’s first and most iconic move, is also a move that we see rarely used on the tournament scene, so perhaps it has been taken out of his normal repertoire?

It’s also worth noting that Bison seems to have gotten a lot of his tools from his Omega version, recently released in Ultra Street Fighter IV . This version was meant to be faster, quicker, and overall more “broken” than normal Street Fighter characters, which once again lends credence to the rumor that Street Fighter V will be a faster game overall. Tools that this new Bison appears to have taken include the projectile reflect, fast short range teleport, and teleporting head stomp. In Bison’s trailer we get to see him flash red for a lot of his moves. It appears as if this flash is signifying him using an EX version of the move. For example, his head stomp becomes a double head stomp when he flashes red. However, he also flashes red during other move extensions, after a move where he did not flash red. Perhaps this means that Bison will be able to burn meter in order to gain extra hits and damage? We also get to see him use his “install” and then immediately use three red move extensions in a row.  Perhaps it gives him pseudo infinite meter, like Chun-Li’s install does?

For now, this is mostly speculation based on what we saw him do in the trailer. Luckily, we will be able to play a full build of M. Bison when we try out Street Fighter V at E3 this year. For now, you can watch the full reveal trailer courtesy of IGN below.
