Kung Lao Builds Infinite Meter in Mortal Kombat X

Kung Lao Builds Infinite Meter in Mortal Kombat X

Another meter glitch has been found in Mortal Kombat X . This time around, it utilizes Kung Lao and his wakeup teleport. Performing a teleport on wakeup, for some reason, automatically builds one full bar of meter. While this makes Kung Lao rather predictable, the ability to completely build his meter in a matter of seconds is undeniably powerful.

This is very similar to an Ermac bug that was found a few weeks ago, which allowed Ermac to build meter as long as he was flying. Kung Lao, however, gains use of this bug in all of his variations, instead of just one. This would make Kung Lao the fastest meter builder in the entire game.

NetherRealm has said that they know about the bug, and a hot-fix should be coming shortly. This should reduce Kung Lao’s meter building to fall in line with pretty much the rest of the cast. However, the very fact that this bug is going to be fixed doesn’t sit well with much of the Mortal Kombat crowd.

Two characters that have previously been fixed were Kitana and, as we stated before, Ermac. Kitana’s Mournful Variant, largely considered to be one of the worst variants in the game, had a very specific corner infinite combo. Meanwhile Ermac’s Master of Souls variation, also considered to be one of the worse variations in the game, could charge huge amounts of meter simply by doing it from flight. In both of these situations, players said that these bugs didn’t really break the game, but rather gave a useful tool to an otherwise useless move-set. The characters were fixed regardless.

The same attitudes are being expressed toward Kung Lao. Kung Lao is not considered to be one of the more powerful characters in Mortal Kombat X . Add to that the fact that a predictable teleport allows you to easily get your highest damaging combo on Kung Lao, which is usually around 50% or more, and players don’t see this as a bug but a feature. It’s something that can give Kung Lao a small leg up on the competition, rather than something that would break the game.

This is particularly important to note as Combo Breaker, a high profile tournament with $10,000 on the line is being held in Chicago this weekend. With this hotfix coming in so suddenly, anyone who based their gameplan around this glitch is now suddenly up the creek without a paddle. They will be forced to quickly learn a character they otherwise wouldn’t have known, making them less effective in the tournament. This, of course, does not sit well with many pros who have a lot invested in winning that prize pool.

What do you think? Should these glitches be fixed or should Netherrealm wait to see if they are actually game breakin? Let us know what you think in the comments.
