New Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 Teaser Unveils Nightmare Foxy

New Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 Teaser Unveils Nightmare Foxy

Scott Cawthon has updated his website, www.scottgames.com , with another teaser for Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 . This time, we get to see the nightmare version of everyone’s favorite out of order animatronic: Foxy, and strangely enough it’s less terrifying than previous teaser images, at least in my opinion.

The image is an extreme close up of nightmare Foxy’s face. Foxy has his mouth open showing a bizarre metal snakelike tongue, nestled between one row of horrendously sharp saw like teeth. But hey, it’s only one row of teeth this time, as opposed to nightmare Chica’s shark-like maw. We also get to see Foxy’s hook and glowing red eyes.

The two Easter eggs that have been found in this image so far include Foxy’s eyes, and some superimposed text over the image. If you look closely into Foxy’s eyes and reduce the brightness of the image, you see that his eyes have the number 87 on them. This whole teaser campaign has been centered around the bite of ’87, the first event that got Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza shut down as mentioned in Five Nights at Freddy’s 1 . Foxy’s image also has the words “Or Me?” on it, which seems to be extending a line of thought from the Bonnie teaser which asked “Was it me?” This is all a riff on a recurring creepy statement that shows up in all of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games, “It’s me.”

Fans have also suggested that if you up the contrast on the image, you can see the words “Out of Order.” In all previous teaser images, the word “Nightmare” can be seen when the contrast was turned up. It’s still unclear what this means for the game’s story or mechanics, but it hasn’t prevented people from theorizing.

New Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 Teaser Unveils Nightmare Foxy

One popular fan theory involves the eyes of the animatronics themselves. It is interesting to note that Bonnie and Chica only had one glowing eye in each of their teasers. Which eye was glowing corresponded to which door the animatronic would attack from. Freddy had no glowing eyes, which was originally attributed to him being the first teaser unveiled. However, now fans are positing that it was because he attacked you when the lights were off. The Foxy image, however, kind of throws a wrench into that theory. Both of Foxy’s eyes are glowing, but Foxy was only able to attack from the left door. This has lead some to believe that Foxy will be able to attack from anywhere in Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, but that’s quite a stretch of a theory at this point.

Fans are hoping that Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will be more of an evolution of the original rather than a completely new game system. Five Nights at Feddy’s 3 was well received but is largely considered inferior to the previous two for this reason. Meanwhile, many indie games like One Night at Flumpty’s have taken the original Five Nights at Freddy’s formula and evolved it into a much more complex and interesting game without losing the original “soul” of watching cameras and closing doors.
