Splatoon Needs Hairdo DLC

Splatoon Needs Hairdo DLC

Inklings are cool. They’ve got style. With different pieces of clothing – sorry, “equipment” – appearing ever day in Splatoon ‘s shops, I’m certain some log in every day to see what’s there. Part of it is because bigger and better things could arrive, making the characters stronger. But another, equally important factor is appearances. Customization matters. Which is why Nintendo needs to let us tweak those tentacles too, via hairdo DLC.

Not that the inklings “need” a tweaking. Well, at least the inkling girls don’t. Let’s be honest, people. I feel like we’ve known each other long enough that we can. Splatoon’ s inkling boys don’t have the best “hairstyles.” It’s okay, but the stylistic direction of the inkling girls is superior as it transitions better between squid and kid. (Do the boys always carry hair ties? How does that work exactly?) Giving hairdo DLC that acts as a headpiece and is sold at Cooler Heads could work. Contacts are already available, sometimes.

And the inkling girls could use extra hairstyle options as well. As well designed as it is, getting extra designs is always optimal. You want to be distinctive in the field, after all. Plus, were it headgear, it’d mean additional abilities. It only makes sense that there be another way to set each inkling apart.

Especially since there is a precedent in Splatoon for such things. Take a look at Callie and Marie. The two of them both have their tentacles coiffed in rather elaborate fashions. It stands to reason other inklings would do the same. Would it be practical for battle? Probably not. But this is a video game, who cares about practicality. Pretty is more important.

Plus, it would fall well in line with Nintendo’s update plans for Splatoon . The company has said it will continually add new equipment and maps. Japan is getting an Ika Musume outfit. New headgear that changes the tentacles’ style would work perfectly. Especially since the headgear for inklings already changes color each round based on the color ink randomly assigned. So it could change color, like normal tentacles would.

Hairdo DLC for Splatoon makes sense. I’m not just saying it should be done because I want my inkling girl to be even fresher. Everyone would love it. If Callie and Marie can look more unique, every other inkling should have that same opportunity. It’s be relatively easy and make people happy. So, let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope Nintendo wants to see us all happy.
