Let’s Talk Exclusives

Let’s Talk Exclusives

Exclusives. Console makers love them, gamers hate them – at least we do when there’s a cool-looking exclusive on a platform we don’t own. Fortunately for us, there aren’t as many console exclusives as there used to be outside of the realm of Nintendo. We can assume that most Wii U and 3DS games are exclusive, but that realm is much more murky for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s especially annoying to figure out which games are coming out for which consoles during E3. We’re used to timed exclusives being portrayed as real exclusives, but this year, “exclusive” often seemed to mean, “on our console and PC.”

So which big E3 games are coming out for which consoles? Let me do the research so you don’t have to. I’ve separated this list into Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Both Consoles, but I’ll also note when a game has a PC release. “PC” probably means “Windows 10 only” for games that are Xbox One and PC exclusive. Sorry, everybody who is desperately holding on to their Xbox 360s and PlayStation 3s. Most of the big games announced this year are new-gen only.

Xbox One:

Beyond Eyes (+PC)
Gears of War Ultimate Edition (+PC)
Halo 5
ReCore
Rise of the Tomb Raider (This is a timed exclusive, but its duration has not been announced and no other platforms have been revealed at this time.)
Sea of Thieves (+PC)

PlayStation 4:

dreams
Final Fantasy VII remake (Like Tomb Raider , a timed exclusive with no other platforms announced yet)
Horizon: Zero Dawn
No Man’s Sky (+PC)
