August Gaming Doesn’t Suck!

August Gaming Doesn’t Suck!

The summer is coming to an end, but the summer slump of video game releases hasn’t ended quite yet. Instead, August is the month of remakes and re-releases! Play all your favorite games from the past in glorious HD! It will hold you over until actual new releases make their way to store in September.

Zombi

Originally ZombiU , the only hardcore title at the Wii U’s release is coming to other platforms. This re-release comes with new melee weapons and a revamped menu, but a harder to use flashlight and no multiplayer.

Dishonored: Definitive Edition

In preparation for Dishonored 2 , you can now pick up Dishonored on next-gen consoles. It also comes with all the additional content that was made available as DLC, and will be released as a budget price of only $40.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

Similarly, you can also pick up the original Gears of War releases on the Xbox One this month. It includes every previous Gears game, in 60 FPS at 1080p. It also includes five campaign chapters never released on the original Xbox, five Gears of War comic books that you can unlock, and early access to the Gears of War 4 beta.

August Gaming Doesn’t Suck!

Mega Man Legacy Collection

It’s an eight bit game running in 1080p. Now you can play all the eight bit Mega Man games again, all the while unlocking art, trivia, and other special bonuses. You’ll also gain access to special “missions” that will revamp your more loved and loathed sections of classic Mega Man stages. We all know what you really want to do, is maximize your time on disappearing block sections.

Disney Infinity 3.0

Disney Infinity 3. 0 is the grand entrance of Star Wars characters into the Disney Infinity family. Of course, all your previous figures will still work, but now you have to buy even more figures to keep up your habit. It won’t convert anyone over to the Toys 2 Life genre, but if you already bought into Disney Infinity, you might as well pick up 3.0.

Madden NFL 16

Not everything coming out In August is a remake or re-release. Then again, if you are familiar with the cycle of sports games updates, you probably already know that Madden NFL 16 will be a lot like every previous Madden game, just with a few control updates and updated player rosters. But hey! That’s basically what every sports fan wants out of their game, right? Can’t blame EA for playing to its audience.

Until Dawn

Holy crap, I found it! I found an actual original game release in August 2015. Ring the bells! Sound the horns! The Summer Slump is coming to an end… eventually. Until Dawn is an adventure survival horror game with a dynamic story. You start the game controlling a party of young people in an obvious horror setting, and your party dwindles as more and more die. But the same characters don’t have to die each time, opening the story up to new endings and new scenes with each playthrough. Also, you can play multiplayer, which may be a first for the genre. Don’t open the front door, Jessica!  Don’t do it!
