What Every Star Wars Gamer Needs Right Now!

What Every Star Wars Gamer Needs Right Now!

The time has come to revisit Star Wars . The series is getting rejuvenated, and everyone wants to see if the places and people they’ve met over the years look the same. With Star Wars: Uprising , we’ve gotten to see what post- Return of the Jedi Hoth looks like, which is great, but there are so many other places we need to see too. Especially the cities. We’ve got the time and the tech to do these places up right, so EA and Disney need to let us go.

Imagine how good Naboo could look on current generation systems. It’d be a fantastic place to have accessible, due to the number of cities and species known to reside there. Even if only Theed and Otoh Gunga, the human and Gungan capitals, were made available, it’d provide an insight into interactions between various people in the Star Wars world.

It feels like Mos Eisley needs to make a comeback too. It’s Tatooine’s largest city and settlement, but no game has really captured it and made it feel alive. Even though it’s on a desert world, it could be a vibrant and beautiful place. With enough work, it could be as detailed as any city in an open world game like Grand Theft Auto or Skyrim .

Speaking of cities, Kamino’s Tipoca City might be a nice stop. It would be interesting architecturally, since it’s a stilt city on a flooded planet. The location could prove historically fascinating too, since the city was damaged during the Clone Wars and an Imperial Period clone rebellion. It certainly wouldn’t be pretty, but players who visit could learn a lot about the cloning process and see remnants of what once was.

But there’s one last place we would absolutely have to go in a future Star Wars game. The next generation of titles has to take us to Endor, land of the absolutely adorable Ewoks. Which isn’t why I’m saying it needs to be a spot to see. Rather, I think the current generation technology could make a place like the Bright Tree Village really feel alive. Think about the work that went into making The Last of Us feel wild and alive. Imagine if that sort of effort was put into an Ewok village. It would be enchanting.

Star Wars is a rich franchise with so many possible places to see. Now, we’re finally at a point in terms of technology where games would be able to do the series justice. And, given the appearance of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Disney’s desire, we could see some amazing things in the next few years. Hopefully virtual renditions of these locations will be among them.
