Jon Snow is Alive in Game of Thrones…and We Can Prove It

Jon Snow is Alive in Game of Thrones…and We Can Prove It

Anytime anything even remotely related to an important Game of Thrones character appears online, the internet goes wild. If it happens to also have to deal with a major spoiler relating to that character, well, then it gets even bigger. Before we go any further, brace yourself for spoilers, because it’s going to happen right now.

Jon Snow isn’t dead in Game of Thrones . I know it looked like he died at the end of season five, and definitely wasn’t encouraging in A Dance with Dragons , but he’s alive. Absolutely. Why? Well, there are a few supporting reasons rooted both in the books and reality.

First, Jon Snow’s eyes at the end of Game of Thrones season five. When he was struck down, they changed color. It was a minor moment, but an important one nonetheless. It could have signalled that he is a warg, like Bran Snow, and had moved his consciousness into his dire wolf, Ghost. He wouldn’t be alive exactly as we remembered, but it is a possibility.

More likely is that Jon Snow could have become a White Walker. Which might not exactly be a bad thing. In the books, Bran and his group encounter a strange man known as Coldhands when they go beyond the wall. He might possibly be a White Walker, since he wears the Night’s Watch’s uniform but is absolutely dead. More important, he’s clearly dead, but not evil. Jon Snow could be resurrected in a similar way.

Also, we have yet to hear anyone in-universe confirm that Jon Snow is actually dead. That’s an important piece of the puzzle. After all, people believe Bran and Rickon Stark are dead, and they’re very obviously not. Seeing is believe in Game of Thrones . We know Ned Stark is gone, because we pretty much saw it happened. His head was mounted at King’s Landing. Stannis Baratheon, however, is uncertain since George R. R. Martin himself said he’s alive in the books , despite rumors of his death. But such confirmations haven’t happened for Snow.

The sudden appearance of Kit Harington is the final support for the theory that Jon Snow is absolutely not dead. He’s showed up for filming for season 6 of the TV show, and the 28 year old actor told The Independent , “Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my 30s when it’s over.” That he is still working on the show and can make such a comment so confidently is telling.

All of the evidence suggests that Jon Snow will rise again. The actor’s back, for one, and season five ended on a suspicious note. Unfortunately, we won’t be getting any real confirmation until spring of 2016 airs or The Winds of Winter is released, whichever comes first. I think we can all be confident that this is one death that could be a lie.
