GTA Online Does Everything Better, Even Halloween

GTA Online Does Everything Better, Even Halloween

With the big day upon us, many developers are making sure their games are up to snuff. You know, adding in Halloween extras and events to make things more festive for the players. Giving people a reason to stay in instead of going out. The funny thing is, this year GTA Online is doing Halloween better than other major titles.

Rockstar Games does a lot of both expected and unexpected things for GTA Online ‘s Halloween events. It adds two new cars, one being a Lurcher Hearse and the other a customizable Lowrider called the Franken Stange. There are even 20 ghostly bobbleheads to add to the dash. Vespucci Movie Masks has Halloween masks now, so you can wear Halloween masks on heists. There’s even a Slasher Adversary mode where one person is the Slasher trying to kill the other 8 with his shotgun. The others lurk in the dark with flashlights, trying to stay alive for three minutes to reverse roles.

Even better, people get plenty of time to enjoy the new content. Rockstar’s GTA Online Halloween event runs until November 16. After that, the ability to enjoy Slasher Adversary or acquire these festive items is gone, but people who grabbed them can celebrate Halloween all year long. There’s no usage limitations. It’s quite considerate for people who may not be around on the actual day due to other plans.

Conversely, Valve did nothing for Team Fortress 2 . Well, that’s not exactly accurate. Valve is working on a patch for the game and didn’t have time for annual festivities and fun, so grabbed some mods fans made and used that for the “official” event. It’s something, but doesn’t compare to an effort from the actual developer.

And Destiny made Halloween more of a trick than a treat with its masks. They’re cool, but can only be bought with candy earned in-game or real money. Since candy would have to be farmed otherwise, it become more tedious than a fun surprise. Especially since people only have until November 9 to earn one.

The point is, Rockstar Games has done well with GTA Online . The company has always ensured the game is up to date for players. With Halloween this year, it’s proved it will continue to handle even special events in the best way possible. Kudos to the company for putting together a fantastic, free treat for fans.
