Now is the Time to Play Fallout 4

Now is the Time to Play Fallout 4

You may have put it off because it was a busy time of year. Everything was coming out at once. The company isn’t exactly known for perfect launches. A few patches are always needed to get things right. Or maybe even because such titles are best with mods. But all of those excuses mean nothing now, because now is the right time for Fallout 4 .

For one thing, it’s working properly now. We’re up to patch 1.3 on both consoles and the PC, which means everything major has been addressed, little ease of living updates have been made to the UI and other functions, and you can see a noticeable difference every time you update. Fallout 4 patch 1.3’s big thing is that bushes and other parts of the landscape aren’t popping up out of nowhere once you’re a few feet away, which is pretty awesome. Bethesda’s so proud of that, the company even shared a video on Twitter.

The community is starting to shape up nicely too, for all of you who have a PC copy. There are 243 pages worth of Fallout 4 mods at Nexus Mods now. Nothing especially huge has been released yet, in part because Bethesda still has to release some toolkits, but it’s a fantastic start. The mods to improve how it looks and the settlement experience are especially welcome.

Plus, there’s time for it now. Let’s think about what’s on our plates for the next few weeks. The only really major releases are Far Cry Primal and Tom Clancy’s The Division , both of which are games that could end up being really great, but not as universally desired as Fallout 4 . You have the time for the Commonwealth now.

It’s even more affordable now. You can sometimes find Fallout 4 for consoles for around $50. It’s also often part of promotions where if you pre-order a game, you can take a substantial amount off of the price of Fallout 4 or a similar title. It’s become cost effective.

You could wait even longer. Maybe until the winter 2016 Steam sale. That’s an option. Now really is the right time, though. You have plenty of freedom, it isn’t too expensive, the game is still relatively new, most of the major bugs have been squashed, and people going with the PC version will be hopping in at the start of the modding scene. Now’s the best time to be a Sole Survivor.
