Mass Effect: Andromeda News FINALLY Revealed

Mass Effect: Andromeda News FINALLY Revealed

It’s happened. Finally, Mass Effect: Andromeda has gone from being something that looks like a bunch of scraps and parts of the first Mass Effect trilogy to something resembling a game. At the PlayStation Meeting 2016, we were finally able to see a 4K gameplay trailer, followed by new details about the game. All I can think is, “Finally!” Finally, we’re seeing something that might be worth all of the hype. It suddenly seems real.

But it’s more than finally getting confirmation that a game is happening. The Mass Effect: Andromeda 4K trailer is like suddenly seeing a plug pulled from a dam. This is going beyond official art and in-progress videos. It’s like after the PlayStation Meeting 2016, things got real. The trailer we saw looked like actual gameplay. We heard voice acting for the male version of Ryder and his Asari crewmate.

This has also led to more information. Suddenly, after being tight-lipped, BioWare is confirming things. Right now, we know that the male and female versions of Ryder aren’t mirror images where you get one or the other. They’re siblings. The character you don’t play as actually has a role and point in the story. He or she will be off doing his or her own thing. Moreover, the N7 in an earlier promotional trailer is actually their father. It’s huge and lets us finally start getting excited about elements we’re seeing.

It’s reassuring, because it means Mass Effect: Andromeda isn’t looking so generic. Previous trailers and visuals had their unique elements, but also seemed like something that could have been used to promote the first three Mass Effect games. They weren’t distinct enough to get excited about and set this new installment apart. By seeing this new gameplay trailer, with a mysterious enemy and a glimpse at possible worlds to explore in one of many odd hubs, it’s suddenly fresh.

Mass Effect: Andromeda News FINALLY Revealed

This even makes it seem like Mass Effect: Andromeda is a game that’s actually happening. It’s supposed to be out in March 2017. That’s six months away. You’d think we’d start seeing regular pieces of art, trailers, character profiles, and so on by now. But we haven’t been. It’s been so under wraps, it could very well have been pushed back again. But now, it isn’t.

It all comes down to Mass Effect: Andromeda finally feeling like a game that’s actually happening. We’ve seen a trickle of information at occasional, important events. There have been glimpses, but not enough to really make us stand up and get excited. The PlayStation Meeting 4K trailer is one of the ones to really help build hype for this game, and now it seems like something that isn’t going to be delayed and will finally be in our hands.
