Hearthstone Noobs Are Gonna LOVE This News

Hearthstone Noobs Are Gonna LOVE This News

Blizzard just announced the best deal in Hearthstone history. Well, I guess the fact that Hearthstone is free is a pretty sweet deal, but this comes in at a close second. I’m talking about the “Welcome Bundle!” The Welcome Bundle is $5, and that fiver nets you a total of 10 classic Hearthstone card packs. As a bonus, you’ll also receive one random class Legendary card from the Classic set. Hearthstone veterans already know what a steal this is, but I’m here to talk the noobs into it.

Hearthstone has a way of casting this spell on its players. At first you won’t care about the game very much, but by your third match, you’ll realize that all you want to do is play the damn game for the rest of your life. Ain’t that a neat trick? I don’t know how Blizzard does it, but every friend I’ve introduced to Hearthstone has become obsessed. For the average newcomer, I project about a week’s time before they get invested enough to harbor the desire to play competitively.

The thing about playing Hearthstone competitively, even with the RNG gods overseeing your every draw, is that the serious players tend to pull way ahead. Those who are willing to spend an unhealthy number of hours playing and completing challenges, or else willing to spend hundreds of dollars on microtransactions, are going to be the ones who get all the great cards. Those who have a collection of great cards are going to be the ones with killer decks. No matter how crap your luck might be, if you have a stacked deck with cards that synergize and enhance each other, you have a great shot at winning. So how do you get those cards?

For those of you who don’t play Hearthstone , here’s the lowdown on how to get new cards. Without spending $20 or more on one of the “campaigns,” you basically have two options. Every day when you log in you’ll have three “quests” that you can complete. You may be tasked at first with getting a few heroes to level 10, and eventually you’ll complete quests buy winning a certain number of matches or using a certain kind of skill so many times. Completing those quests earns you in-game gold, which you’ll use to buy packs.

You’re also welcome to spend your cash to acquire packs more quickly. Purchases range from $3 for two packs or $10 for seven packs, all the way to $70 for 60 packs. Each pack you purchase will grant you five new cards, one of which is guaranteed to be of “rare” quality or better. It sounds like a total lotto, and it is. Trust me, though, after you open your first few packs you’ll be hooked, and all it takes is one great card for a certain hero / class to rope you into building the ever-elusive perfect deck. This can take ages, and acquiring the packs you need to really advance can also drain your wallet if you’re not careful.

That’s where the Welcome Bundle comes in! Forget the endless grinding and living off of Ramen. “If you’re new to Hearthstone and wondering where to begin, the Welcome Bundle will set you well on your way to building a Classic deck recipe or creating an exciting new deck of your own. You’ll unwrap one of nine Classic class Legendaries, such as the mystical Mage card Archmage Antonidas, or the relentless Warrior card Grommash Hellscream! For half the price typically charged for seven packs, you can open 10 and get a legendary to lead the charge for whatever great new deck you decide to put together. If you were waiting for the perfect excuse to jump in, this is it!

How many Hearthstone noobs do we have out there ready to jump on this deal? How many of you are lapsed players getting sucked back, seduced like spellbound zombies by the allure of cheap packs and shiny legendaries? This is Pokemon TCG fever all over again, and I love it!
